Abstract
PURPOSE: An antiseptic and antifungal preparation that is a liquid containing bromoacetic acid as an active ingredient, this inhibiting the growth of fungi such as soft rot fungi or wood destroying fungi and showing the same level of antifungal activity even under irradiation of mercury vapor lamps as under no irradiation, when wood is treated therewith.
CONSTITUTION: The preparation contains bromoacetic acid as an active ingredient, which is used as a starting material for drugs, fungicide and agricultural chemicals and readily miscible with water or a solvent, because it is liquid. The active ingredient alone or together with other antiseptic and antifungal is dissolved in water or an organic solvent such as methanol and wood is treated with the preparation by coating, spraying or dipping. The concentration is preferably 0.5W5, especially about 2wt% based on the volume of the solvent.
