PURPOSE:To improve separation capabilities by providing portions with large and small coefficients of friction in turn along the circumference of a separation roller and making the peripheral speed of the separation roller not lower than that of a paper feed roller. CONSTITUTION:A separation rubber 6 is pressed to a separation roller 7 with a pressure required to feed a sheet of manuscript 4 out of a manuscript pile 4. A conveyance roller 5 is a rubber roller letting the manuscript 4 be bitten between the separation rubber 6 and the separation roller 7 to improve the separation performance. A paper feed roller 9 for manuscript conveyance is rotated at a constant speed for the purpose of exposure. A portion 7a made of a material with a larger coefficient of friction mu than that of the separation rubber 6 and a portion 7b of a material with the smaller mu than that of the manuscript 4 are arranged in turn on the separation roller 7. Furthermore, the peripheral speed of the separation roller 7 is made higher than that of the paper feed roller 9 so that the feeding speed of the paper feed roller 9 suffers no effect.
