PURPOSE:To print a large number of printing lines for a telegram even by a printer having less printing lines (or figures) by using a system in which the number of letters to be printed is counted, and when the number exceeds the number of printing lines (or figures), the printing is made by dividing it into plural lines while keeping the line interval at half of the usual one. CONSTITUTION:Printing data (line feed signal LF, letter data C, and carriage return signal CR) are read out by a decorder 1, and the letter data C is stored in a printing buffer 7 through the contact point (a) of a switcher and its number is counted by a counter 2. When the counted value of the counter 2 exceeds a printing line, a discriminator 3 sends out a signal B to switch a switcher 4 to the contact point (b), and C2 of the letter data C is stored in the printing buffer 8. After a paper is carried by as much as usual line intervals, data C1 in the buffer 7 is first printed, the paper is carried at half (b) of the line interval (a) by a form feed controller 6, and then data C2 in the buffer 8 are printed. The following line feed and carriage are made at the line interval (b).
