Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the recognition of an object with a simple data processing by recognizing attitude thereof based on a rotary scanning angle of a slit light when the length of the part indicating the width of the object in a contour image equals a predetermined reference value. CONSTITUTION:A TV camera 5 as an image taking means is so arranged that picture is always taken at an angle theta to the irradiation of a slit light on an object 4 by deflecting the optical axis with the back mirror face 2b of a double- face mirror 2 and a mirrors 6. A slit light irradiating device, the double face mirror 2, the TV camera 5 and the mirror 6 are driven to rotate so that the slit light turns in the direction A centered on the gravity position G. This allows the rotary scanning of an object 3 by the slit light and contour images r1- r3 are obtained according to the section of the object 4 corresponding to the rotary scanning positions of the slit light.
