Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce a titled material by segmenting an electrolytic cell to an anode and a cathode chamber by means of a cation exchange membrane, providing electrodes via gas and liquid permeable porous layers having no electrolytic activity on the surfaces of the exchange membrane, introducing an ammonium hydrogensulfate soln. into the anode chamber and a sulfuric acid into the cathode chamber and electrolyzing these.
CONSTITUTION: An electrolytic cell is segmented to an anode chamber and a cathode chamber by means of a cation exchange membrane having sulfonic acid groups, carboxylic acid groups and phosphoric acid groups. At least one of the anode and cathode is installed via the gas and liquid permeable porous layer of 10W99% porosity and 0.01W200μ thickness which is formed on the surface of the cation exchange membrane and has no electrolytic activity. Thereupon, 10W 40wt% an aq. ammonium hydrogensulfate soln. and an electrolytic accelerator such as sulfuric acid are introduced into the anode chamber, and 10W30wt% sulfuric acid into the cathode chamber, and these are electrolyzed at 10W100A/ dm2 current density.
