  • Treatment Of Water By Ion Exchange (AREA)

Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out ion exchange in good efficiency and to reduce the amount of a regenerating agent, by a method wherein water containing boron and a COD substance is passed through an OH type weakly basic anion exchange resin layer and the obtained eluate is passed through an SO4 type weakly basic anion exchange resin layer.
CONSTITUTION: Water containing boron is an ion-exchangeable form such as BO3 3- or a borofluoride and a COD substance in an ion-exchangeable form as a soluble COD substance such as dithioic acid, polythioic acid or an NS compound is passed through an OH type wealky basic anion exchange resin layer to adsorb the boron by ion exchange and the eluate therefrom is subsequently passed through an SO4 type weakly basic anion exchange resin layer to adsorb the COD substance by ion exchange. The pH of water supplied to the OH type weakly basic anion exchange resin layer is pref. adjusted to 9 or more and that of water supplied to the SO4 type weakly basic anion exchange resin layer is pref. adjusted to 7 or less.
