Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize a repeater by containing optical fiber cores in a pressure resistant protecting case and connecting the cores to themselves. CONSTITUTION:One tail cable 19 is contained through a lead-in part 20 into a pressure resistant protecting case 15 from the tightly sealed end face plate 3 of a pressure resistant casing 1 containing an optical submarine repeater 2. Another tail cable 19' is contained into 15 through another lead-in part 20' from a cable detaining fitting 9. The case 15 consists of a body 17 and a cover plate 18, and is contained and fixed in the end part of a joint ring 8 by means of a tightening ring 16. Optical fiber cores 11, 11' are coupled and connected in the state of cores within the case 15.
