Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve the high volume efficiency continuously in the wide operation range and to improve the fuel consumption and the power performance, by enabling the regulation of the substantial length of the suction tube in accordance to the variation of the rotation of an engine. CONSTITUTION:In a four cylinder engine, the air inlet section of each suction pipes 51-54 arranged while corresponding to each cylinders 81-84 are opened into the common air collection chamber 4. Then a slidably contcting planar member 16 sliding relatively against the fixed wall of each suction pipes 51-54 while forming a portion of the side wall of each suction pipes 51-54 such that the substantial air inlet open end of each suction pipes 51-54 will move to the longitudinal direction of each suction pipes 51-54 is placed between said chamber 4 and each of said air inlet sections. Said member 16 has the through holes 161-162 corresponding with each suction pipes 51-52 and constructed such that it is moved horizontally by an operating device 18 which is controlled through a controller 21 on the basis of the output from a rotation detector 20.
