Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease laborious work and time necessary to fold a sail by making a rotatable flap wing foldable along the vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:A flap wing 16 has a movable rib 12 provided at its one end with a through hole 12a for an operating rod 5 and at the other end another through hole 12b for a guide member 11, and also has a sail canvas 13 pasted on the outer circumference of the movable rib 12. The operating rod 5 and the guide member 11 pass through both the through holes 12a, 12b respectively. At the upper central portion of the top movable rib 12' out of said removable ribs 12, an end of a sling 14 is fixed. The sling 14 is wound around by a winch 15 situated on an upper supporting rib 9. Consequently, operation of the winch 15 moves the flap wing 16 vertically along the operating ord 5 through the sling 14.
