Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance starting property by a method wherein a part of a partially burned gas obtained at a heater provided in an auxiliary passage for the fuel-air mixture can be supplied into a main passage for the fuel-air mixture at the time of starting at low temperature, in a starter for a laminar-intake engine which is provided with main and auxiliary combustion chambers and in which methanol or the like is used. CONSTITUTION:The internal-combustion engine using methanol or the like is provided with the main and auxiliary combustion chambers 101, 103. The main combustion chamber 101 is supplied with the fuel-air mixture from a two-barrel type carburetor 2 through the main passage 20 for the fuel-air mixture, while the auxiliary combustion chamber 103 is supplied with the fuel-air mixture from an auxiliary carburetor 3 through the auxiliary passage 24 for the mixture. A branch passage 29 is connected to the passage 24 at a position downstream of a throttle valve 23, the heater 50 for the fuel-air mixture is provided in the branch passage 29 and the passage 29 is joined to the passage 24 at a position downstream of the heater 50. In this device, connection passages 76, 77 are branched to the upper and lower sides from the passage 24 on the downstream side of the conflux point of the passage 24 and the branch passage 29, and are connected to the passage 20 through change-over valves 78, 79, respectively.
