Abstract
PURPOSE:To guide a casting downward smoothly while preventing the casting from deforming by providing a guide plate between a container and the casting at intervals while one terminal is stuck on the container and the other is freed. CONSTITUTION:When a coil is energized with polyphase current to generate a revolving magnetic field, the unsolidified part 1a inside of a cast product 1 is driven in the same direction with the revolving magnetic field to start stirring. The unsolidified part 1a has external unsolidified part which is easily deformable by external force etc., but its deformation quantity is controlled by a guide plate 8. As it is deformed only in an interval 10, the cast product 1 is so guided as to be positioned in the axial line of the revolving magnetic field. Therefore an optimum stirring force acts on an unsolidified part 1a. The mounting part 8a of the guide plate 8 is cooled by a water jacket 7a so that the inside of interval 6 is not thermally influenced by the guide plate 8. Since the lower part of the guide plate 8 is a free terminal and extension by heat escapes to the free terminal, the thermal stress is not affected to a vessel 6.
