Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled monofilaments having improved knot strength against shock, by drawing undrawn monofilaments consisting of a (modified) polyethylene terephthalate mixture, and heat-treating the drawn monofilaments under specific conditions respecitively.
CONSTITUTION: Undrawn monofilaments consisting of a mixture of (A) 100pts.wt. polyethylene terephthalate with (B) 5W150pts.wt. modified polyethylene terephthalate at a molar ratio between the terephthalic and the isophthalic components of (97:3)W(80:20) are drawn at 85W100°C under wet heat conditions at a draw ratio of 2.8W4.0, drawn in a gaseous atmosphere at 180W250°C at a draw ratio of 1.5W2.5 and then heat-treated in a gaseous atmosphere at 180W250°C at a winding ratio of 0.9W1.0 to give the aimed monofilaments.
