Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce variations in characteristics with the interval between a magnetism sensing element and a detection body and with temperature, by forming cuts in the detection body on the left and right sides alternately except at the cente part in its movement direction.
CONSTITUTION: A detecting mechanism consists of a detection body 21 as a moving member and a magnetic detection part 27. The detection body 21 is made of a soft magnetic material, and has cuts 22 and 23 in the left and right flanks alternately in its movement direction at equal intervals. The deepest parts of the cuts 22 and 23 are closer to the flank side than to the center line of the detection body 21. The magnetic detection part 27 consists of an E- shaped magnet 28 having both side legs magnetized to the N and S poles, and a magnetism sensing element 29 stuck atop of the center leg of the magnet 28. As the detection body 21 moves, a magnetic flux piercing the magnetism sensing element 29 changes in direction alternately, detecting the movement position.
