Abstract
PURPOSE:To uniform the stream of sea water and remove the foreign bodies by a method wherein a strainer is arranged so that it is deviated into the reverse direction of the discharging direction of sea water from the center of a vessel and an opening at the large diametral side thereof is opposed to an intake tube while the same at the small diametral side thereof is opposed to a bypass tube. CONSTITUTION:The strainer 21 is arranged so that it is deviated into the reverse direction of the discharging direction of sea water from the center of the vessel 14 and the opening at the large diametral side thereof is opposed to the intake tube 15 while the same at the small diametral side thereof is opposed to the bypass tube 16, both in the vessel 14. Upon usual operation, the mixed foreign bodies, such as shells or the like are removed when the sea water, introduced into the vessel 14 through the intake tube 15 as cooling water, is passing through the strainer 21, while the purified sea water is introduced into the vessel 14, the stream of the sea water, flowed into the water chamber 11 of an inlet side, is uniformed, the area of stagnation generated in the vessel is eliminated and the breeding of marine creatures such as planktons or the like may be prevented.
