Abstract

PURPOSE: To dehydrate and concentrate an aq. soln. extremely quickly by bringing a water absorptive resin having high water absorbing power into contact with said soln. through a semipermeable membrane.
CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. contg. high polymer solute such as protein and enzyme or viofluid contg. inorg. and org. materials such as urine, cerebrospinal liquid, serum is brought into contact with polyacrylate, a starch-acrylonitrile graft copolymer and its hydrolyzate, carboxy cellulose, PVA, or the hydrolyzate of a methyl acrylate-vinyl acetate copolymer through a semipermeable membrane made by molding polyelectrolyte, polysulfonate, an acrylic polymer, a polyacrylonitrile polymer or cellulose nitrate into a film shape, whereby it is dehydrated and concentrated. According to this method, the rate of dehydration is high and since there are no temp. changes, this method is adaptable to materials such as enzyme which are vulnerable to denaturation and deactivation.
