Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct the deviation of printing position due to the scanning movement of a carriage by using a system in which conductive parts are provided on both sides of the deflected face of ink droplet and its one side is switched and earthed according to the scanning direction of the carriage. CONSTITUTION:Conductive parts 4a and 4b are provided on both sides of the deflected face 0 of ink droplet between a deflection electrode 3 and a recording paper 20. When a carriage 10 scans in the direction of arrow A, a switch 5a is turned into ON, the conductive part 4a is earthed, and the electric field between the deflection electrode 3 and the conductive parts 4a and 4b is asymmetrized in relation to the deflected face 0 of ink droplet in such a way as to deflect the flying ink droplet in the direction of A'. On the other hand, when the carriage scans in the direction of arrow B, the switch 5b is turned into ON, the conductive part 4b is earthed, and the flying ink droplet is deflected toward the direction of B'. In this case, the deflection amount to be received by the ink droplet of maximum charge by the asymmetrized electric field is equalized with the distance that the carriage moves during the period of time from the injection of the ink droplet of minimum charge to the injection of the ink droplet of maximum charge.
