Abstract
PURPOSE: To miniaturize a dehyrator while raising its dewatering effect, by locating a main roll and a plurality of press rolls at the top end of an endless filtering belt in a gravity dewatering zone, and letting the filtering belt run between the lower surfaces of the main roll and the press roll group.
CONSTITUTION: Sludge is fed under a condition having nearly constant thckness onto the initial part of a belt in a gravity dewatering zone 1. The sludge is gravity-dewatered through the back surface of the beltI during its advancement in the zone 1. When the beltI has passed through the gravity dewarering zone 1, the belt comes in contact with the periphery of a large-diameter main roll 4 at its outside surface on which the sludge is mounted, and moves nearly half or 3/4 round the lower surface of the main roll 4. The belt 1 moves round a final press roll 5-N, recedes to turn back from the main roll 4, successively comes in contact with press roll 5 on this side at its inner surface, and returns to a turn- back roll 2.
