Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic disk having high coercive force which is especially suited to a magnetic encoder, etc., by laminating a metallic film using a polyurethane binder and a gamma-Fe2O3 film using an epoxy binder on a nonmagnetic substrate. CONSTITUTION:A gamma-Fe2O3 magnetic film 2 using an epoxy resin binder is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate such as an Al disk substrate 1, and a metallic magnetic film 3 using the Fe powder and a polyurethane binder is formed on the film 2. Then a gamma-Fe2O3 film 4 is formed on the film 3 with the same composition and with the same method as the film 2 to obtain a laminated magnetic film 5. The film 2 is formed to increase the adhesion properties between the substrate and the metallic film. And it causes no problem if the metallic film 3 is formed directly without using the film 2. 50-80% Fe powder is filled into the film 3 to ensure a high coercive force. The film 4 functions to prevent the oxidation of the Fe powder of the film 3. In such a way, a disk having a thick magnetic recording layer is obtained to be suitably applied to a magnetic encoder which requires a large space between the magnetic head and the disk.
