Abstract
PURPOSE: To make coloring of titled parts to various colors at a low cost possible by forming a metallic plating layer that provides appearance on a metallic base material by a nonaqueous type Al electroplating method, forming an anodically oxidized film thereon and coloring the same.
CONSTITUTION: An Al plating layer 2 is formed by a nonaqueous Al electroplating method on a metal 1 heavier than Al such as stainless steel or brass which is a base material for external parts for timepieces. Next, an anodically oxidized film 3 is formed on the surface thereof, after which it is colored and is thence applied with a sealing treatment. The resultant external parts for timepieces have smooth surfaces, are uniformly colored and are highly resistant to abrasion and corrosion.
