Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:An ethylene glycol derivative of formulaI(n is 1W15; R1 is residue of aliphatic hydrocarbon of 3W26 carbon atoms; R2WR4 are H, lower alkyl) or its salt.
EXAMPLE: 3,6,9,12,15-Pentaoxaheptadecyl-2-pyridinium ethyl phosphate.
USE: Antitumor agent, anntibacterial for agricultural purpose: it shows activities of proliferation inhibition and differentiation induction (removal of cancers) of tumor cells such as cells of mouse spontaneous leukemia and remarkable life- prolonging effect on patients with malignant tumors such as leukemia or solid cancers. Further, it shows antimycotic activity.
PREPARATION: A compound of formula II reacts with another compound of formula III(X, Y are halogen) to form a compound of formula IV, which is made to react with water to give a compound of formula V. The product is made to react with a compound of formula VI to give the compound of formulaI.
