USE: A component of a liquid crystal composition having small positive dielectric anisotropy and low viscosity.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIis prepared by converting the carboxylic acid derivative corresponding to the objective compound to the acid chloride with thionyl chloride, and reacting with pentafluorophenol in the presence of pyridine.
