Abstract

PURPOSE:To fix lead wires by packaging a flat power-generating element with two pieces of plastic outer packaging materials having a heat-sensitive adhesive layer on each inside surface together with taking out holes for terminal leads, and heat-bonding those lead wires which are inserted from said taking out holes into the gaps between the outer packaging materials and current collectors. CONSTITUTION:A cell comprising a flat power-generating element constructed by placing a positive electrode 2, a negative electrode 3, and current collectors 4, 6 on the both sides of a separator 1 is packaged with two pieces of outer packaging materials mainly comprising plastics having a heat-sensitive adhesive layer 9 on each inside surface together with window holes 5, 7 for taking out terminal leads, thus forming a flat battery. One each end of both terminal leads 15, 15 is inserted between heat-sensitive adhesive layers 9 of the outer packaging materials and current collectors 4, 6, and heated to be fixed. Tin plated copper wire or a ribon type spring material lead is used as the lead 15. Ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer is preferable as the heat-sensitive adhesive 9. Therefore, the lead is fixed when the outer packaging material is provided, and mutual fixing of the outer packaging materials and fixing of the lead can be made by simultaneous heating.
