Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce noise of a driving gear by forming conical guide surfaces extended outwardly on both sides of a sprocket, and providing guide plates which are disposed at a space narrower than the width of a roller chain near the teeth portion. CONSTITUTION:Guide plates 8 mounted on both surfaces of a sprocket 2 are dish-like and respectively provided with a through hole 8a at the central part thereof and with slits 8b at the outer periphery thereof. A steel plate is molded, and then heat-treated to strengthen its wear-resisting property. A guide surface 8c of each guide plate 8 is disposed corresponding to the side of the teeth portion of the sprocket 2, and is spaced from the sprocket 2 as it separates from the axis of the gear 2 so as to form a conical surface. A spacer 9 is controlled in such a manner that the distance between right and left conical surfaces is a little narrower than the width of a roller chain 1 near the tooth portion 2A of the gear 2. The guide plate 8 is provided with slits to absorb noise of collision between the sprocket 2 and a rotating roller 7.
