Abstract

PURPOSE:To position a magnetic head on a recording track with high precision then by putting an R/W head in linear motion with a stepping motor and a steel belt, eliminating a thermal error in positioning. CONSTITUTION:R/W head driving mechanism is wound around with a capstan 5 formed of the same material with a magnetic disk substrate fitted to the rotating shaft A of a stepping motor with a steel belt 6, and then fixed threadedly to the capstan 5, a belt fixing plate 7 and a spring 8 for belt buffering at holes 6c, 6a and 6b of the steel belt. One terminal of the belt-buffering spring 8 which reduces difference in the thermal expansion of the steel belt, that of the capstan, and that of the belt fixing plate and expands and contracts so as to hold tension constant is fixed with threads to a steel belt 5, and the other terminal to the belt fixing plate 7.
