Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate defects such as the sag of a magnetic tape and the press- contacting of a pinch roller to a capstan, by setting a stop mode substantially in case of a power failure. CONSTITUTION:A mode detecting circuit 485 applies a prescribed voltage to a terminal COM and also detects a current mode according to the on-off states of terminals P1, P2 and P3. A conductive foil pattern 484 on the side of the reverse surface 200C of a cam switch 200 is used as a pattern for backup and terminals P4 and P5 for backup are arranged at adequate positions. In fast- forward and rewind mode M2 and recording and reproduction mode M4, terminals P4 and P5 are made conductive through the conductive foil pattern 484 and in other cases, they are not conductive. The terminal P4 is connected to the power line of a loading motor 101 and the terminal P5 is connected to a power failure detecting circuit 486.
