Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce decorative black color metal having gloss from any metallic materials by compressing ultrafine powder of metals and their alloy under heating and finishing the surfaces thereof. CONSTITUTION:When gaseous Ar of about 100Torr is sealed into a vacuum deposition device, and Cu is heated to evaporate by using filaments of W, Cu atoms evaporate and at this same instant, they collide against the residual gaseous molecules of low temp., grow to bigger sizes and stick to the inside wall of the device, thereby forming fine powder. The average grain sizes of this fine powder is within a 0.1-0.01mu range. Next, this fine powder is recovered, and is molded under pressurizing at about 350 deg.C by using a vacuum hot press, then, the molding is machined, ground and finished to accuracy of about 0.5-1mu surface roughness, whereby it is made into the product of a black color tone. Metals and alloys having the characteristics required depending upon use objects are selected for the ultrafine powder. It is equally well to use plasma jet flames as a method of producing the ultrafine powder.
