CONSTITUTION: As a perfect oxidation type oxidation catalyst for purifying environment such as an enviromental pollution gas or the like such as aldehyde or mercaptan, a powder consisting of a metal such as platinum or the like and a metal oxide such as manganese dioxide or the like and a resin powder such as a polytetrafluoroethylene powder or the like are mixed at first and, after grinding, the obtained mixed powder is molded. As described above, without carrying out baking treatment in a high temp. region, the oxidation catalyst having high catalytic activity even at a relatively low temp. as well as long life is obtained.
