Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase utilization rate of an active material, and cycle life under a high temperature by applying and drying a paste consisting mainly of cadmium oxide on a porous matal substrate and impregnating a cadmium salt solution therein and forming it. CONSTITUTION:Cadmium oxide acting as a main active material is mixed with nickel powder, short polypropylene fibers, and a binder solution, and kneaded to prepare a paste. This paste is applied on the both surfaces of a nickel plated perforated steel plate which acts as a matal substrate, and dried. In addition this is immersed in acadmium salt solution (for example, 3.5mol/1 cadmium nitrate solution at pH 2) to impregnate a cadmium salt, subsequently, dried and formed to manufacture a cadmium negative electrode.
