Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify installation and treating process by effecting nitrification of nitrifying germs and denitrification of denitrifying germs simultaneously with oxidation of BOD oxidizing germs in a single digesting tank designed to be in the anaerobic aeration conditions in the first half part and in the aerobic aeration conditions in the second half part.
CONSTITUTION: Night soil sludge (a) is mixed and homogenized in a storage tank 3, and is fed to a digesting tank 11. In the first half part (about 40%) of the tank 11, air (d') to an extent insufficient for settling suspending matters whereby anaerobic aeration conditions are formed. In the second half part (about 60%) of the tank 11, a large amt. of air (d) is blown, whereby aerobic aeration conditions are formed. Hence, in the first half part, the oxidation of BOD by BOD germs is effected and in the second half part, the nitrification by nitrifying germs and the denitrification by denitrifying germs are effected. The sludge from the tank 11 enters the 1st settling tank 12, and the settled sludge produced therein is returned into the tank 11. The supernatant enters a reaction tank 13. Here, a flocculating agent A1 is added and the sludge is fed to a flocculating and settling tank 14, where it is separated to flocs g1 and supernatant a6.
