Abstract
PURPOSE:To apply a high voltage to a cable core locally without contacting by running a cable core linearly, fitting a thin and long iron core provided with an exciting winding while surrounding the cable core with the iron core, and exciting the cable core. CONSTITUTION:An iron core 10 is provided spirally while surrounding a cable core 50 running successively and linearly as shown by an arrow 51. When a current is flowed through an exciting winding 20, magnetic flux 40 is produced, for example, as shown in the figure. One terminal of a cable conductor 52 is grounded and a voltage 60 is induced across the cable conductor 52 according to variation in magnetic flux 40. When an external semiconductive layer 56 is also grounded, the voltage 60 is applied to a cable insulator 54, and consequently a test of dielectric strength is carried out continuously.
