Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify a structure and to enable a device to be used with various types of fluids, by a method wherein a temperature sensor is located in the proximity of a heat pipe which has one end immersed in fluid and causes fluid around it to produce a temperature change resulting from the heat transfer between the fluid and the outside. CONSTITUTION:A detector is used with detection of a flow condition and a liquid level of fluid, and a protection tube 12, protecting a heat pipe 10 and a temperature sensor 11, is attached to a line 18 so that the tube 12 is immersed in the fluid. If the fluid is under a flow condition, the amount of heat, discharged into the air through working fluid in the heat pipe 10 and fins 13, is fed from the fluid being under a flow condition, and thereby the detecting temperature of the temperature sensor 11 indicates an approximately constant value. If, however, the fluid stops flowing, the fluid temperature around the protection tube 12 sharply increases resulting from the radiation through the heat pipe 10, and this permits the stoppage of the fluid through measurement of a temperature change by means of the temperature sensor 11.
