Abstract

PURPOSE: To avert the exfoliation of protecting layers and the generation of weld defects by cooling the leading end of a forward guide part to the temp. at which no damages are given to the surface protecting layer of a can body.
CONSTITUTION: An intermediate guide part 36 and a forward guide part 37 are improved to provide introduction and discharge ports 46, 47 for cooling liquid in the rising part 45 at the rear end of an intermediate guide part 36. A vertical passage communicating with an introduction port 46, a forward horizontal passage 49, a vertical passage 50, a backward horizontal passage parallel with the passage 50, and a backward vertical passage 52 to a discharge port 47 are provided to flow the cooling liquid cyclically. A novel fixing part 41 is combined with the part 37, and introduction and discharge ports 61, 62 for the cooling liquid are provided to the rear end of the part 41. Also, a forward horizontal passage 63 communicating with the port 61, a vertical passage 64 and a backward horizontal passage parallel with the passage 63 and communicating with the port 62 are provided. On the other hand, a passage 71 descending from the passage 63, a forward horizontal passage 72, a vertical passage 73 as well as a backward horizontal passage parallel with the passage 72 and a passage 75 descending from the backward horizontal passage of the part 41 are provided to the part 37. The cooling liquid entering through the port 61 is flowed cyclically to the port 62 through the part 37.
