Abstract
PURPOSE: To deposit compds. of Mo, Ni, Co, etc. without breaking the crystal structure of zeolite by subjecting Y zeolite ion-exchanged with rare earth metals to form a catalytic carrier together with alumina and impregnating this with said compds.
CONSTITUTION: The cation of Na, etc. contained in Y zeolite is exchanged with ammonium ions and the residual ions are controlled to about>0.5wt% in terms of content of Na. Thence, this is dipped in an aq. soln. of salts of rare earth metals such as Ce, La and the like to subject about ≥95% of the exchanged ammonium ions to ion exchange with ≥1 kinds of the rare earth metals. Further, the product of the above-mentioned treatment is dispersed in alumina hudrosol, and is further gelled with an aq. alkali soln., following to which the gel is molded, dried and fired, whereby the carrier is formed. The amt. of the zeolite in the carrier is set at about 3W60%, more preferably about 10W50%. This carrier is impregented with ammonium paramolybdate and nitrate of Ni and /or Co.
