Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the production of a plate-like metallic powder body of smooth surfaces and high brightness by applying metallic plating via a layer of an inorg. compd. on the surfaces of mica.
CONSTITUTION: An inorg. compd. layer 3 of oxide of Ti or Fe or the like is coated on the surface of an extremely thin plate-like body 1 of synthetic mica, natural mice or the like of about 1:100 ratio between thickness (a) and length (b) of one side and about 500W1,000Å average thicknesses. Ni, Cr, Cu or the like is chemically plated thereon or a metallic layer 2 of Al, Zn, Mo, etc. is coated by sputtering, ion plating, etc. thereon. The plate-like metallic powder of high kneadability with varnish, printability, brightness, etc. suited for printing ink and paint is produced easily.
