Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve uniformity in the dyeing of a polymer article and in surface hardness thereof, by irradiating a polymer article composed mainly of diethylene glycol bisallyl carbonate with light having a specified wavelength in an O2-free atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Not less than 50mol% of diethylene glycol bisallyl carbonate and not more than 50mol% of other copolymerizable monomer such as styrene are cast-polymerized in the presence of a free radical generating polymn. initiator to produce a polymer article which is then irradiated with light having a wavelength of 500mμ or below for 5minW20hr in an atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of 100mmHg or lower.
EFFECT: The polymer article has excellent wear resistance and can be uniformly dyed by using a disperse dye.
USE: Sunglass lens, optical filter, etc.
