Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength of a photoconductive layer, lubricity of the layer surface, abrasion resistance, cleanability, and durability, by adding inorganic photoconductive particles, a low-melting-point inorganic glass, and metal stearate to the photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:Inorganic photoconductive particles, such as CdS, ZnO, or amorphous Si, a glass having a melting point as low as 200-700 deg.C in a wt. ratio of 5:1-1:5, and 0.1-30pts.wt. stearate of a metal, such as Pb, Zn, Ca, or Mg per 100pts.wt. photoconductive particles are mixed in an anhydrous solvent, such as isopropanol, and dispersed. This dispersion is coated on a conductive plate, such as a stainless drum by the spray method, and burned in a drying oven to prepare a photoreceptor having a 5-50mum thick photoconductive layer, thus permitting this photoreceptor to be improved in mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, lubricity, cleanability, and durability of the photoconductive layer, and a high- contrast image to be obtained even after 200,000 times of copying.
