Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-activity immobilized enzyme that can freely mobilize like a free enzyme in the reaction system, therefore, scarcely causes troubles in the diffusion of substrates on the surface of the immobilized enzyme.
CONSTITUTION: An enzyme is immobilized by bonding it ionically to particles of water-dispersing hig polymer. The water-dispersing high polymer particles are prepared by emulsion polymerization of a monomer bearing ion-exchanging grous, preferably a mixture thereof with another monomer. The ion-exchanging group is, e.g., sufonic or carboxyl group. An example of the monomer bearing such as ion-exchanging group is styrenesulfonic acid, sulfopropyl methacrylate or other monomers having sulfonic acid groups.
