Abstract
PURPOSE: To grasp accurately the errosion amount of a refractory wall near a gas-blowing nozzle from the outside, by installing the temperature sensor of a sheath type thermocouple or a resistance thermometer applied in the refractory wall of a blast burnace in the vicinity of the gas-blowing nozzle of a treating device for a molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: The temperature sensor 10 is composed of six sheath type thermocouples 12a received in an outer sheath tube 11. The tip of metallic wires 14, 14' of a thermocouple 12a constitutes a measuring contact (detective part) 15 in the seath tube, and each tip is situated at a different position in a longitudinal direction. A thermocouple 12b (with the tip of wires remaining separated) made of the same material as that of the thermocouple 12a is connected to the tip of the detective part 15 as a dummy. A heat resitant insulator 13 is packed around the thermcouples. The sensor 10 is inbedded in the thickness direction of a refractory wall near the gas-blowing nozzle 2. In this case, the thermocouple 12b and insulator 13 are erroded nearly parallel to the errosion of the refractory wall. As each detective parr 15 detects the hot temperature of the molten metal when or just before it is brought into contact with the molten metal, the errosion condition of the imbedded part can be accurately detected by the record of a temperature distribution in the detective parts.
