Abstract

PURPOSE:To stably cut an inside spherical surface to a uniform roughness, by attaching a cutting bar body to the front end of a main shaft and rotating a cutting tool holder through a parallel link mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The axis of rotation of a cutting tool holder 4 is put on the center of the inside spherical surface of a workpiece 1. After that, a cutting tool 5 is swung around a tool shaft 6 by a parallel link mechanism comprising a link bar 7, a lever 8 and a cutting tool holder 4 and is turned around the axis of a main shaft 2 by its rotation, thereby cutting the inside spherical surface of the workpiece 1. According to this constitution, the speed of cutting movement of the tool 5 is kept constant. For that reason, the whole inside spherical surface is cut to a uniform roughness.
