Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate machining, assembling, and repair/inspection of a variable pitch unit for blades as well as to improve its mechanical strength, by providing said unit outside a transmission shaft. CONSTITUTION:A supporting shaft 5 is attached to a transmission shaft 10 through a hub 4, extending outward in the radial direction of the shaft 10. The supporting shaft 5 supports the base section of a blade 9 rotatably, while the transmission shaft 10 is fitted with an outer shifter 13 which is linked to a portion of the base section of the blade 9 through a coupling rod 14. A constitution is established in such a way that the outer shifter 13 is shifted along the transmission shaft 10, following its revolution so that the blade 9 can rotate on the supporting shaft 5. With these contrivances, in which the outer shifter 13 is provided outside the transmission shaft, machining, assembling, and repair/inspection of the unit are facilitated, while the mechanical strength of the transmission shaft can be increased because the shaft can be of a solid one.
