Abstract

PURPOSE:To attempt to moderate the thermal shock which a regonerator receives particularly upons starting by constructing a gas turbine so that at least a part of compressed air from a compressor can be bypassed from the regenerator and varying the bypass quantity of compressed air in accordance with the turbine load. CONSTITUTION:The subject gas turbine guides compressed air from a compressor 1 through a pipe 3 to a regenerator 4, where the compressed air is heat- exchanger with a combustion gas exhausted from the turbine 9 to raise the temperature of the compressed air. Then, the compressed air is introduced in a combustor 6 through the pipe 5. In this case, in order to introduce the compressed air to the combustor 6 by the compressor 1 in circulating around the regenerator 4, a regenerator bypass valve (three-way valve) 12 and a bypass pipe 13 to be interposed are provided in the pipe 3. Upon starting the turbine, the total quantity of the compressed air is supplied to the combustor 6 by circulating around the regenerator 4 to moderate the thermal shock received by the structural member upon driving the turbine.
