Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to prevent a sheet from undesired movement by restraining the rotation of a supporting shaft for feed rollers when a spring clutch between the supporting shaft and a transmitting mechanism is not operated, in a sheet feeder of a duplicator or the like. CONSTITUTION:In a feeder comprising a forcibly restraining mechanism 66, when a control solenoid 62 is turned OFF so that an operation controlling member 54 is located in an engaged position and the spring clutch 28 is set in the non- operating condition, an engaging piece 74 of a restraining member 70 is engaged with a pawl 68 on the outside peripheral surface of a clutch boss 40 to restrain the rotation of the supporting shaft 12. Therefore, even when a stoppage of a drive source and a face drive are conducted in the condition in where the clutch 28 is not operated, the shaft 12 is securely prevented from being rotated in the direction of the arrow 20, so that the uppermost sheet is prevented from moving in the direction of the arrow 26. Accordingly, a defective paper feed of paper, a jamming of paper and the like due to repetition of the stoppage of the drive source and the face drive or the like can be prevented.
