Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure ignition in a catalyst combustor, by feeding a mixed gas of fuel gas and the air concentratedly to a catalyst part which contacts to an igniting heater, at the time of ignition when the temperature of the catalyst is still low. CONSTITUTION:When an ignition switch 5 is turned to the igniting position, the electric current flows through an igniting heater 3, a catalyst part situated close to the igniting heater 3 is heated. Because a catalyst layer 2 is at first in a low temperature, a nozzle 12 to inject the mixed gas is brought near to the catalyst layer 2 by a heat responding device 13 operated in response to heat, and the mixed gas is concentratedly fed into a catalyst part which contacts to an igniting heater 3. As a result, the calorific value per unit area of catalyst is increased, and the temperature of a catalyst part which contacts to an igniting heater 3 promptly rises, so that ignition to the catalyst layer 2 is conducted easily and positively. After ignition is completed, and the temperature of a catalyst layer 2 is hightened, a nozzle part 12 is moved off the catalyst layer 2 by heat responding device 13, and the mixed gas is uniformly fed into the catalyst layer 2.
