Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent measurement errors owing to temp. changes in detecting the abrasion loss of the lining of a brake pad by providing a resistor for temp. compensation near resistors for detection. CONSTITUTION:Linear resistors 14 are attached on the top surface of a sheetlike base 13 of an insulator and many of such bases are laminated. Both ends of the resistors 14 are connected respectively to conductive materials 15, 16, and are communicated with terminals 17, 18. One end of a resistor 19 for temp. compensation is connected to the conductor 16 and the other end is provided with a terminal 21. These are covered with a covering material 22 and is buried in the lining of the brake pad. In accordance with the division of the lining, the resistors 14 are cut by each one successively, and the resistance value between the terminals 17 and 18 increases; therefore, this value is detected. If the resistors 14, 19 are assumed to be sides of a quadrilateral resistance bridge which are not opposite to each other, the change in the resistors 14 by temp. is compensated by the resistor 19.
