Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate variation in bit width during the reception of a burst optical signal, by eliminating the drift of a DC level by using two discriminating circuit differing in threshold voltage adequately for the front part and succeeding part of the burst optical signal respectively. CONSTITUTION:A burst optical signal 100 is processed by photoelectric conversion 200, whose output is inputted through an AC coupling preamplifier 300 to the 1st discriminating circuit 400 having the 1st threshold value and a control input terminal, and the 2nd discriminating circuit 500 having the 2nd threshold value and a control terminal. The output signals of those circuits 400 and 500 are led to an OR circuit 600, whose output is sent to a separating circuit 700 during the reception of a data signal. Once the head part of the burst signal is detected, the circuit 400 substitutes for the circuit 500, and once the tail part of the burst signal is detected, the circuit 500 substitutes for the circuit 400 in response to a signal supplied from the circuit 700 to their control input terminals.
