Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the method of pressing and affixing an active material over a sealing plate or the like, and reduce the manufacture cost of an organic solvent battery by performing hair line work on one surface of a base body so as to form hair lines extending in one direction, and forming a negative sealing plate or a positive case so that its inner surface corresponds to the surface of the said base body provided with hair lines. CONSTITUTION:A base body 12 is rolled with a hard roller 11 having many concaves and convexes so as to form hair lines consisting of a number of micro- grooves 121, which have a width of around 1-100mu and extend in one direction. After that, thus treated body 12 is punched into a negative sealing plate 4. Then, an alkali metal used as a negative active material 5 is pressed upon the inner wall of the negative sealing plate 4 and is affixed on the plate 4, so that the contact between the material 5 and the plate 4 is increased. Here, hairline work is performed also on the inner wall of a case 1 in which a positive active material 2 is installed. By the means mentioned above, an organic solvent battery which has an excellent preservation characteristic can be obtained.
