Abstract

PURPOSE:To lengthen the life of a print head by making such an arrangement whereby its print elemens are caused to print dots by slightly changing their position of use at a proper period of time. CONSTITUTION:A print head 1 is composed of many print elemens D1, D2...D230 provided in one horizontal row on one side of a substrate 2 and these print elements are connected in parallel with a thermal power source 3 and they are also connected to each corresponding one of shift registers R1, R2...R230 through drivers. It is arranged so that shift registers R1, R2...R230 are supplied with print data to be transmitted from a control unit by being shifted in sequence by clock pulses, and when the shifting is stopped, a power source circuit is caused to become operative condition through a driver and those print elements D1, D2...D230 to which print data are applied are heated, being supplied with electricity, and cause a label 10 to form color.
