Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain the function of a lens in a single unit and with simple constitution, by using only a piezoelectric macromolecule formed into a lens shape and a transparent electrode. CONSTITUTION:At least one side of a piezoelectric macromolecule 5 forms a part of a sphere and receives previously a polarizing process between transparent electrodes 6 and 7 in a high electric field and by heating. When the electric field is applied between both electrodes, the curvature and the thickness of the macromolecule 5 vary with an electric distortion effect. Thus the focal length can be varied. The macromolecule 5 uses an electret material that shows the piezoelectric properties without receiving an orienting process such as vinylidene fluoride-3 ethylene fluoride copolymer, vinylidene-4 ethylene fluoride copolymer or ethylene fluoride propylene copolymer, etc.
