Abstract

PURPOSE: A heat-accumulating material capable of suppressing supercooling of calcium chloride hexahydrate and accumulating or discharging heat at an adequate temp, which is obtd. by incorporating potassium bromide in a main component consisting of the calcium chloride hexahydrate.
CONSTITUTION: Potassium bromide is added to and mixed with a main component consisting of calcium chloride hexahydrate. It is pref. to add 0.1W5pts.wt. potassium bromide to 100pts.wt. calcium chloride hexahydrate. With less than 0.1pt.wt. potassium bromide, although a supercooling-preventing effect is recognized, the potassium bromide gradually dissolves and is increasingly supercooled as melting and solidification are repeated, while with more than 5pts.wt., although supercooling is sufficiently effectively prevented, the heat-accumulating material, is unsuitable for practical use because its m.p. is markedly lowered.
