PURPOSE:To stabilize the generation of ink particles by setting the ratio L/phi between the diameter phi of a nozzle hole and the axial length L thereof at 0.7 or more in an ink particle generator designed to generate F pieces of ink particles per sec employing a fundamental frequency F and an excitation voltage containing a double higher harmonic. CONSTITUTION:An electric-mechanical conversion element 4 is excited by an excitation voltage source 5 adapted to generate an excitation voltage Ve receiving input signals of frequency F and 2F respectively from first and second oscillators 12 and 13, F pieces per sec of ink particles are generated from an ink column injected through a nozzle hole 7 of an orifice plate 3 on a nozzle 1. The generation of the ink particles relates to the frequency component of the excitation voltage Ve and a difference in the phase between the frequencies F and 2F.
